SEATTLE (Scrap Monster): Tenaris S.A. celebrated reopening of its Koppel and Ambridge steel mill facilities. It must be noted that the Koppel mill, the company’s first steel mill in the U.S., had undergone $15 million worth upgrades over the past one year. The Koppel steel mill had completed its commissioning this summer. Also, the Ambridge facility had restarted in August.

Announcing the decision, Luca Zanotti, President Tenaris USA noted that the Koppel mill will start feeding Ambridge, Pennsylvania and Bay City, Texas mills with bars for seamless production. The reactivation of the facilities will provide its Northeast facilities with greater flexibility to serve its customers, which in turn will add value to the company and boost its efficiency, he added. Apart from the above two plants, Tenaris also operates a threading facility in Brookfield, Ohio.
The company has made significant expansion to its workforce in both Koppel and Ambridge. The current combined employee strength is 300, which the company plans to increase further over the coming months. Tenaris has been providing big boost to its south and northeast industrial operations over the past several months.
