PROTRADE STEEL CO. was founded in 1994 as a ferrous scrap brokerage company by Jack Kessick who was later joined by several former executives of leading domestic scrap firms. In 2005, ProTrade reached a milestone trading a volume of over one million tons with over $250 million in revenue. The firm has grown steadily since its inception and has continued to increase its presence by adding several brokerage offices and diversifying into scrap operations. In 2008 ProTrade entered into an agreement with Interseroh AG, one of the leading scrap recyclers in Europe, to help increase our footprint and knowledge base in an ever-expanding global market.

Transportation

At the heart of moving scrap metal efficiently and profitably is transportation. Transportation can be as simple as loading a truck from point A to point B or as complicated as dealing with multiple class 1 railroads to get your product to the best home. ProTrade Steel is well-skilled to help manage this entire process: from obtaining the best rates, to supplying trucks and/or railcars where required, managing the movement of the shipment to its destination, and resolving all customer service, freight accounting, routing, and other issues in advance or as they arise. We have available over 400 private railcars to help provide the highest quality of logistics services to get your shipment to where it’s needed with the right timing and at the best price. Our fleet includes both low and high-sided gondolas to best meet your needs.
