At HSR Services, we take care of mother earth. We take the time and make the effort to recycle what most companies throw out. HSR Services is your one stop shop for all your recycling needs. From paper, plastics, and metals, to batteries, electronics, and florescent tubes, we handle it all!! More importantly, we handle it right! We provide a drop-off location and a pick-up service for both companies and individuals.

WORKING FOR YOU

We will react accordingly to your needs. If you need additional pick-ups or equipment, not a problem, just let us know and we will take care of it. If you feel that our pick-ups are too frequent, or infrequent, again, let us know and we will adjust. In return, we will also let you know when we feel that more or less pick-ups are needed, so you can make a sound business decision on pick-up frequency. If you have any questions about a particular type of material going into your garbage for landfill, simply contact our representatives and they will help you find an alternative solution.

We are committed to being professional, consistent, up front, and open. At HSR Services, we take every thing we say we will take, and always ask you if there is anything else we can do. All of our drivers are in uniform so they are presentable when servicing your business. All of our employees are WCB insured so you don’t have to worry about risk of injury. We take full responsibility for the actions of our service representatives. If you have any concerns, you will be put directly in touch with one of our managers and they will help solve any problems you may have.
Special Note: At HSR Services we in no way claim to perform the end processing and recycling of the material which we collect. We do however do minor processing such as baling, cutting and dismantling for our downstream processors. We will also let you know if a particular item will end-up going to landfill if all other options have been reviewed.

History

In the Beginning
Stan Kaminski, otherwise known as Happy Stan, started his journey into the world of recycling along side his girlfriend Della; together they collected newspapers from local hotels to raise money for the Gibson’s boys club. A few years later, they got married and had three children (Chris, Karla, and Jamie). Later on, two of their children (Jamie and Chris), also got into recycling by building a cart and collecting newspapers door to door to raise spending money.
Stan later started his own janitorial business called, “All Canadian Janitorial,” where he provided janitorial services for households and businesses in the North Vancouver area. But instead of throwing out all the paper and cardboard from the companies he was cleaning, he decided to sell it to local recycling companies. Stan found this to be very rewarding, and in 1988 he gave All Canadian Janitorial to his partner Angela and opened up All Canadian Recycling Services with a different partner.
Soon after opening, All Canadian Recycling was servicing print shops and real estate offices from Vancouver to Maple Ridge with a single one ton cube truck. From there, Stan and his partner took on larger contracts such as Island Paper Mills and BC Rail. His work force also increased, adding on two very dedicated employees, Stan’s two son’s Chris and Jamie. Stan later decided to sever the partnership but continued to provide recycling services under his new business name, “Happy Stan’s Recycling Services Ltd”.
Happy Stan’s Recycling Services focused on large industrial corporations such as Island Paper Mills, later becoming Domtar Paper Mills, and Sonoco. His main business was, and still is the recycling of cardboard and cardboard tubes. However, in 2003, Stan was approached by the city of Port Coquitlam to process the residential recycling from their blue bag program. The city stated that their current service provider was unable to handle the material because of the plastic bags. Stan, unaware of this type of processing but still wanting to help, accepted the contract and began recycling for the City of Port Coquitlam. Soon after, the blue bag system was replaced by the state of the art single stream co-mingled process.
The Next Generation
In 2005, to help his father in this endeavor, Stan’s son Jamie, who has been working by his side since it began in 1988, took on the role as General Manger. Happy Stan’s took care of the city contract for another two years before changing its focus from a materials oriented company to a service oriented company, providing information, and recycling solutions to businesses and households across the lower mainland. Since the beginning in 1988, Happy Stan’s has increased its material acceptance from strictly cardboard and paper to over 40 different commodities.
Together, Stan, Jamie, and a team of dedicated friends and employees are working hard to create a one stop recycling solution for households and businesses everywhere.
Recent Events
In 2009 Happy Stan’s Recycling became a member of the Tire Stewardship of BC. Together with the Tire Stewardship of BC, we recycle used tires and save them from filling up the landfills by collecting them so they can be recycled into crumb rubber for use in synthetic turf fields and other innovative products.
In 2011, we are happy to be acknowledged as one of the Top 100 Collectors in Canada for alkaline and rechargeable batteries by the Call2Recycle Stewardship. Annually we help save one million kilograms of batteries from leaking its harmful contents into our soil and ground water.
Knowing that there are still much more we can do to reduce the volume of waste going into our landfills, in 2012 Happy Stan’s partnered with Growing City to include office and warehouse composting to its service package. This very same year, we also added Styrofoam packaging to our list.
And On June 21st 2012, Happy Stan’s Recycling Services started operating internationally under the name HSR Services. No need to worry; we still hold on to our fun-loving nature for the industry as well as the same amount (if not more!) of passion for the work that we do towards a sustainable future.

Through the use of carefully selected processing equipment, a large network of fellow recyclers, delivery trucks, and lots of elbow grease, HSR Services aims to aid B.C. in its goal of zero waste. Through our large network of fellow recyclers, we believe in disposing of our material in the most environmentally friendly way possible and only deal with those companies who do the same. We believe in sustainable incremental growth over the long term through increased volume, more efficient and effective operations and well trained staff.

PAPER SHREDDING / DOCUMENT DESTRUCTION

Every business produces confidential data. Customers lists, price lists, sales statistics, drafts of bids and correspondence, and memos are all examples of confidential data. All businesses also possess other people’s confidential data which is their legal responsibility to protect. These documents include employee records and personal information. Unless proper precautions are taken, important information could end up in the dumpster where it is readily, and legally, available to anybody. It is said that your garbage is the single most available source of competitive and private information. By not destroying private and proprietary data, a company may be subjecting itself to not only the risk of loss of business, but it may also be exposing itself to criminal and civil prosecution.

INCIDENTAL BUSINESS RECORDS DISCARDED ON A DAILY BASIS SHOULD BE PROTECTED

If not controlled; everyday trash of every business will contain information that could be harmful to their operation and beneficial to their competitor. Discarded daily records such as: phone messages, memos, misprinted forms, drafts of bids and drafts of correspondence are especially dangerous because they contain current information that could be useful to a competitor today. Every business is vulnerable because of their need to discard these types of documents. The only way to minimizing this type of risk is to make sure such information is securely collected and destroyed.

Roll off Bin Services

We can provide a number of roll-off services for material such as: junk wood and pallets, drywall, cardboard, cardboard tubes, plastics, and metals. If you are doing a clean-up let us do the work for you. Our clean-up crew is fast, efficient and most importantly, knowledgeable.
We know how to load the bins to maximum capacity and do it with great efficiency. This will reduce the amount of hauling needed. Also, with our knowledge of recycling, we know what to put in the bins and what not to put in the bins. Often, this will save you money on penalties for contamination. So, next time you need a 40 yard bin filled, let us do our job and you can continue working on yours.

Speciality Recycling

On top of our regular pick-ups of cardboard, office paper, plastic bottles and cans, scrap metals, non Freon bearing appliances, plastic strapping, plastic film, paper rolls, and newspaper, we also provide a variety of additional recycling services.These services include the pick-up and safe environmental disposal of certain types of material that can cause severe harm to the environment if not taken care of responsibly.These services also include removal and disposal of recyclable and non recyclable material that have a negative value when taken in for recycling. Many of these items have been or are in the process of being banned from your local municipal landfill due to their hazardous nature.

JUNK REMOVAL PICKUP SERVICE

Similar to most junk removal companies, Happy Stan’s Recycling will provide a pick-up of your junk material and dispose of it for you.

RESOURCE RECOVERY FACILITY

Dissimilar to most junk removal companies: HSR Services has its own Resource Recovery Facility where all of your junk is sorted, processed and then sent for recycling, and as a last resort, landfill.
For the same cost or less, we recycle what most junk removal companies throw away. We have the facility, the knowledge, network of fellow recyclers, and equipment to turn your junk into materials that can be sent to different recycling companies around North America.

Metals

The most common metals we need to consider when recycling are aluminum and steel. Aluminum and steel are thrown away every day. North Americans use over 100 million steel cans and over 200 million aluminum beverage cans every day. Recycling is the most efficient way to reduce aluminum and steel waste.
Recycling your used steel cans at home is easy. All you need to do is rinse the food from the cans. That’s it. Years ago, you were asked to remove the paper labels and the tops and bottoms from cans. This is no longer necessary.
Like aluminum, steel can also be recycled again and again. It does not lose any of its strength or quality in the recycling process. It can be a never-ending process that continues to save energy and resources.

Plastics

What Is Plastic? Plastic is a type of synthetic or man-made polymer; similar in many ways to natural resins found in trees and other plants. It constitutes a large portion of the material we process, as it’s found in so many products. Almost all liquid products are packaged in plastic containers, as well as most packages and bags.

Electronics

End-of-life electronics should be recycled to save our planet. There are many different types of heavy metals inside our electronic equipment such as: lead, mercury, cadmium, and beryllium. Incorrect disposal could cause leeching into our Streams, Rivers and, soil, polluting our earth, drinking water, food, and ultimately our bodies.

What We Buy

Not only do we provide recycling services, we also purchase materials from business customers. If you own your own business and you have materials lying around, they may have value to it. We want to establish a strong relationship with you, so you can get the best deal possible. If you have any materials that are listed below that you need to get rid of, we will be more than happy to purchase them from you.We only purchase materials from you if you have an established account with us. Payment is made via cheque to the business listed on the account. We do not pay cash, and we do not buy from individuals. At HSR Services we try to sell what is useable because we want to encourage reusing and recycling. We want you to help the environment, and encourage you to reuse materials. We often receive packaging products that are still in good shape and are in usable condition.Also, all prices are subject to change without notice and are based on local markets.
