About Yard

Good Point Recycling (division of American Retroworks Inc.) is a nationally-recognized electronics recycling company, consulting office, and a respected expert in "Fair Trade Recycling". We are one of the region's leading "e-waste" recycling operations, based in Middlebury, Vermont.

We service Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island from our Vermont headquarters, and the southwest from our Arizona warehouse. Our recycling services are R2-certified, respected, vetted, economical, legal, and guaranteed.

  • CRT and LCD Recycling
  • Municipal collection trailers
  • Special "E-Waste" Event Recycling
  • Commercial business collections
  • Hard drive erasure and destruction services

We provide free TV and PC recycling, computer refurbishing, job training, and the best environmental practices.   We credit for newer items, charge to recycle of end-of-life items, and accept clean scrap for free.  We offer rapid and convenient service to banks, hospitals and colleges, cities and towns, schools and residents seeking sensible solutions for their surplus electronics.

Recycling Solutions for Institutions and Business

Good Point Recycling offers safe, R2 certified, legal, responsible, ethical and insured management of used office equipment.  We provide documented computer takeouts, expert LCD and CRT monitor recycling, fluorescent lamp collection, hard drive shredding, data destruction, and assisted donation (for charitable deduction). We provide EPA compliant service  to universities, hospitals, banks, schools, manufacturers, and other sensitive business and institutions.

Ethical and Responsible Computer Recycling - Good Point Recycling collects computers from your site, tracks your assets to their best end use, and certifies recycling of end-of-life equipment. For the 10% of material we can refurbish, we maintain tracking records of hard drive sanitation and sale satisfaction. For the 90% of material which is "end of life", we document complete demanufacturing. Our end markets are fully documented and audited, and we have the industry's R2 certification on every downstream facility. Our responsible recycling practices have been profiled by regional and national press (see Qualifications).

Data Wiping and Recycling - Secure hard drive management, chain of custody, and documented destruction. Good Point Recycling has a section of the plant dedicated to securing your company's confidential data, by "wiping" (rewriting 1's and 0's over) the contents of the drive (department of defense compliant), magnetic pulse, or physical destruction. Special fees apply for "chain of custody" documentation. We guarantee compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy Rule.

Lamp and Ballast Recycling (hg) - Mercury Fluorescent Lamp disposal and recycling services are offered at our existing computer recycling pickups. Lower your "fuel and pickup fees" by including lamps and ballasts with your regular computer recycling pickups.

EPA Compliant Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) and LCD Monitor Recycling - Good Point Recycling helped "write the book" on proper management of used office monitors, for reuse or proper recycling. Our prices are lower because of contracts with Original Equipment Manufacturer factories (the ones which made the monitors under various brand names). We follow CRT Glass Test rules developed by American Retroworks and used by auditors across the world to sniff out "toxics along for the ride".

Recycling Solutions for Municipalities, Towns, Districts and Counties

Good Point Recycling offers mulitiple services, from TV and monitor recycling, special collection events, fluorescent lamp recycling, to textile, book, cardboard and other recycling systems.   We guarantee the hard drive security, proper CRT glass recycling, and assisted donation (for charitable deduction) . Contact us for a free consultation on how we can become your New England Recycler.

Ethical and Responsible TV and Computer Recycling - If you already collect white goods, auto batteries, and tires, you can collect TVs and PCs, too. We accept all kinds of scrap electronics, from old TVs to laptops, and "anything with a cord". You can assure your residents of an affordable, ethical, and responsible solution to community's recycling needs. We maintain records on every item, whether for scrap or reuse, and are happy to provide your public works crew, municipal officials, and residents tours or online slide shows of our processes. For the 70% of material which is "end of life", we document complete demanufacturing, breaking the items down to basic elements (iron, copper, aluminum, plastic, lead, silica, etc.). We don't export "Toxics Along for the Ride". Our end markets are fully documented and audited (see Qualifications).

Universal Waste, Mercury Fluorescent Lamp disposal! - Save money, add lamps to your existing computer recycling pickups!Good Point Recycling is a registered "Universal Waste Handler" for fluorescent mercury (hg) containing lamps. Must be collected in approved packaging (such as original lamp boxes or those you order online). Contact us with your universal waste needs.

EVENTS for Responsible Computer and TV Recycling - Good Point Recycling provides several types of collection events, according to the needs and goals of the client. We provide either fully staffed events (up to 50 staff per event) or, if you want to save money, bare-bones events (trucking staff only) charging processing and trucks only. We provide Sponsored Events for hosts and OEMs with a full budget for "free" recycling, and "Turn-Key" events for groups seeking a fund raiser (we charge the Host nothing and collect fees directly from residents). A third "hybrid" event lowers the cost per item to resident in return for trucking costs only.

Scrap Commodities - disassembled, sold as raw material.

When the non-reuse material is set aside for de-manufacturing, and all the screws have been removed, the material may or may not be continued as a restricted export (vs. spot market) material. Generally, leaded CRT glass and gold-bearing printed circuit boards are closely monitored and supervised. As toxicity drops, selling the material for top price on the open market makes more sense. In some cases there are items which are just accumulated in too small amounts to draft long term purchase orders or to accumulate shippable quantities. Those materials are generally sold to another USA processor, but it becomes difficult to audit the end market if it is a small volume. If it is a enough material to ship directly overseas, and the material is restricted, we do NOT play games by sending the loads through a "broker" and claiming the broker is responsible for the destination.

Restricted Export (CRT Glass, Printed Circuit Boards, etc).

This is material Good Point does NOT export unless a legal import letter is in hand AND we are confident of chain of custody.  The fact that we have this material in large quantities means we are taking it out of loads we sell as working (see CRT Glass Test, Printed Circuit Board Test, etc.)

  • CRT Funnel Glass
  • CRT Panel Glass
  • Dirty CRT Glass
  • Intact bald CRT tubes
  • Printed circuit boards (EU and Japan only)
  • Intact TVs, screen burned monitors, excess TVs and monitors (surpassing reuse demand)
