Mark Hopman, President of American Beam and Steel, started his carpentry career in the mid-1980's under some of the most distinguished custom home builders in Chicago's Southwest Suburbs. In 1991, Mark leveraged the years of experience and knowledge in carpentry framing and formed his own company, DeakonHaus Custom Builders.

For over 25 years, he built over a dozen Craftsman Style custom homes. His primary goal was not to mass-market spec homes, but instead, he focused on building the highest-quality home, delivering true craftsmanship in each and every home he built. Deakonhaus also renovated dozens of older, period homes where Mark realized how critical it was to have a deep understanding and high level of expertise in structural renovation.
