The company has grown every year since inception and with continued operational discipline this growth will continue for years to come.

Nicholas Sanitation, Inc. is the certificated private trash hauler for nearly all of Nicholas County with some rights extending past county lines. These areas are described in detail by a certificate governed by the West Virginia Public Service Commission. The company was started in June 1977, with only 3 trucks, 5 employees, and 1200 total customers. The company has grown to currently employee 21 people, service approximately 500 commercial customers / 5000 residential customers, and operates a fleet of over 20 trucks. Nicholas Sanitation, Inc. originally was located in Cottle, West Virginia in .5 acre lot with no garage. The company moved to 17 Elk Lane in Summersville, West Virginia in November 1978. This location houses a 75’x40’ office/garage complex on 4.12 acres. This move was to accommodate current and future growth.The company uses its knowledge and resources to offer many types of services. Nicholas Sanitation, Inc. offers residential and commercial trash services. Commercial operations include offering dumpster services, and 20, 30, 40-yard roll-off containers, including close-top roll-offs for customers who desire. Also, Nicholas Sanitation, Inc. offers specialty pick-up services for commercial and residential customers to satisfy various requests. Nicholas Sanitation, Inc. has also recently acquired a building on 1.10 acres adjacent to their current operation that will be home to their new recycling center. Nicholas Sanitation, Inc. will accept mixed paper, cardboard, aluminum& steel cans. The recycling center will be open to the public from 8:00A.M. to 4:00P.M. on Monday through Friday.

Customer Rules and Regulations

• All trash must be set out by 6:00A.M. along with a customer identification sticker. We will not return to pick up trash not set out on time.

• Each household is allowed six, 30-gallon garbage bags OR twelve, 13-gallon kitchen bags each week.

• Our policy states that each household must have a separate sticker and their own garbage pick-up location/(bin) in order to receive proper service.

• Please make trash bins no higher than 32 inches.

• A MAXIMUM 30 pounds per bag limit.

• Trash bags no larger than 32 gallon capacity may be used.

• Please DO NOT USE BLEACH on trash bags for animal control.

• Extra garbage will only be collected if prior arrangements are made with the office.

• Service may be discontinued if payments are not received within 30 days of billing and payments will not be accepted on routes.

• DO NOT place needles and syringes in your garbage bags. Call for information on proper disposal.

• Place all broken glass in boxes to ensure the safety of our employees.

• Do Not place grass, leaves, or lawn trimmings in garbage, as the landfill will not accept.

• Please notify the office when discontinuing service

• HOLIDAY NOTICE: Service on ALL holidays EXCEPT Christmas Day.

• Large household goods such as furniture and appliances are considered bulky goods. Bulky Goods MUST be scheduled by calling the office. Two items are allowed per month. Bulky goods do not include household garbage or yard and construction debris. FREON must be removed and tagged by a certified technician for all relevant appliances before disposal.
