ELECTRONICS & BATTERIES

ROOTS RECYCLING IS NOT CURRENTLY ACCEPTING ELECTRONIC WASTE OR BATTERIES FROM THE PUBLIC.DO NOT place electronics or batteries in your household recycling bag. If interested in a commercial PICK-UP of electronics, call our office to arrange. NO commercial electronic drop-offs will be accepted.

WHY SHOULD I RECYCLE MY ELECTRONICS?

As of July 1, 2013, it is Colorado State Law that electronics may not be thrown into a landfill. Electronics include a host of environmentally deleterious chemicals like mercury, cadmium, lead, phosphors, arsenic, and beryllium. When these end up in a landfill, chemicals eventually seep into the ground and into our water supply , thus properly disposing of electronic devices is paramount. By recycling your electronics, we are ensuring that hazardous waste does not leach into the earth, endangering plants, animals, water, and human health.

WHY DO I HAVE TO PAY TO RECYCLE MY ELECTRONICS?

As with all other aspects of recycling, there is a cost involved in the processing, disassembly, and distribution of electronic devices. Taking your electronic waste to an electronic recycler ensures that electronics are distributed to environmentally responsible entities where each element will be ethically recycled.

Hard-to-Recycle Materials

Roots Recycling is not a thrift store.  If you have items that may be reused, please take them to the appropriate thrift, reuse, or consignment store to grant those items a second life. If you have any materials that could be reused (any items listed above or such as hangers, pots, pans, yard furniture, screen doors) please take these items to a thrift or consignment store where they may be granted a second life.

To recycle these materials, there are several Centers for Hard-to-Recycle Materials in Colorado. There is usually a fee associated with recycling these materials. We DO NOT ACCEPT hard-to-recycle materials at our facility. The closest Center for Hard-to-Recycle Materials is:
