BSW Waste Solutions started in March of 1984. Why the name BSW? Well, Bruce Updike thought naming the company after the most important people in his world was the right thing to do. So, Ben, Sam, and Wanda's names became forever associated with hauling trash- and outstanding small business common sense and responsiveness for our clients. (We choose to focus on the latter half of the name association!)Bruce was a telephone cable splicer facing a changing workplace due to deregulation. One day, he was shown an advertisement announcing the bid procedure servicing the public dumpster sites in Bedford County. Bruce, and his librarian wife Wanda, did their homework, drew on their experience helping Bruce’s brother in his garbage hauling business, and made a competitive proposal. Selling his incredible work ethic and many of their possessions landed the Updikes in the garbage business and BSW Waste Solutions began hauling all of Bedford County’s trash in July of 1984.

Bruce and one other driver shared duties in the beginning and soon Bruce's wife Wanda was called into duty billing and driving a Front Load truck a couple of days a week. Since then the business has grown to serve large customers in Region 2000 including Campbell and Amherst Counties, and industry like J Crew and Georgia Pacific, educational institutions including Sweet Briar College and Liberty University's commercial construction sites, and others for construction, small businesses and over 5000 individual households and communities like Cornerstone for curbside pickup.Now in their 29th year, Bruce’s son Ben and his wife Tally continue to grow BSW Waste into the next generation, expanding to be the only privately held, locally-owned and operated company in Lynchburg to offer all types of waste services from industrial roll off and front load to curbside garbage service, and curbside comingled recycling as Recycle Easy.Thank you for the opportunity to serve you, we look forward to adding you to our list of satisfied customers who appreciate a waste solutions company providing big business delivery with small business common sense and responsiveness.

Front Load Containers
We offer 4 sizes of front load containers, used for various commercial businesses or home offices. Together with our Customer Care team, we will access your waste volume to provide a solution that best meets your needs and our staff is available for site evaluation whenever needed. We can provide a service schedule to meet the demands of your business for peak and non-peak seasons.In addition to trash, a 6 yd or 8 yd container can be set for recycling corrugated cardboard.

Roll Off Containers
We can provide 3 types of roll-off open top containers. An open top dumpster is ideal for construction, demolition, roofing jobs, remodeling or house clean-outs. All containers are equipped with a backdoor that can be opened to walk materials into the dumpster.

BSW is your best solution for construction debris because we provide fast, local service built on making your jobsite work without hassling with the taking out the trash. Recycling and Sustainability
Need Help meeting your sustainability requirement, we offer LEED hauling options either sorted into multiple containers or commingled in one container if space is even tighter than your budget. We’ll even keep the numbers and percentages up to date for your sustainability reports. Got Steel, Copper and Aluminum. We can arrange a metal dumpster on site. From Sheetrock to concrete we’ll help find a way to meet your goals.

Special Waste- Non Friable Asbestos
We can provide the hauling, liners and paperwork needed to transport non friable asbestos to be disposed of. Contact us and download the Region 2000 Service authority form and we’ll help arrange the details.
