Gibsons Recycling Depot

Gibsons Recycling Depot is located on the Sunshine Coast, BC, which is a 45 minute ferry ride from Horseshoe Bay and 20 miles by water from Vancouver.Gibsons BC is a wonderful 'water access only' community, which was the setting for the hit family TV show 'The Beachcombers' on the CBC. Also in 2009, Gibsons was voted as the Most Liveable City in the world under 20,000 people by the International Livecom Award organization. In 2001, Buddy Boyd formed a small disposal company, known as Gibsons Disposal Ltd. Buddy soon built a loyal customer base. Not long after that, in 2003, Buddy and his partner Barb Hetherington added Gibsons Recycling Depot into the mix.

They developed one of the first Resource Recovery facilities in BC. Based on the principals of Zero Waste, they mine the waste stream before anything is landfilled. Along with the usual recyclables, Buddy and Barb started the first comprehensive Expanded Polystyrene Foam recycling program at their privately run recycling depot.

CURBSIDE RECYCLING PICK UP SERVICES

We are pleased to announce the commencement of a subscription curbside recycling collection service. How does this work? Very simple. Gibsons Recycling Depot will pick up 3 blue recycling boxes for only $10.You send us an e-mail via the Curbside Recycling Form on this Web Site and the next day we pick up your recyclables. For anything other then traditional recycling, contact us for a rate for other items we can accept for pick up.Our curbside services are now available from Port Mellon to Wilson Creek and at all points in between.And by using Electric Vehicles to pick up your recyclables, carbon emissions are greatly reduced. Gibsons Recycling Curbside Pick Up and Rubbish Removal

Ever just don’t feel like coming up to our recycling depot? Or you are unable to? Now GRD offers a new subscription curbside recycling service. Just click the 'Curbside Recycling Pick Up' button to the right to fill out the order form, send us an e-mail and that’s it. Here’s how it works!Gibsons Recycling Depot will pick up 4 blue recycling boxes for only $10. Please place clean rigid plastic, glass, tins cans and refundables in one box. In the 2nd box, place mixed paper, newspaper and bundled cardboard. Please 'bag' soft plastic film, clean meat trays, clean egg containers & Styrofoam in the third box. If you need blue recycling boxes, we have those for sale for $10 each. All recyclables must be clean and free of food residue or contaminants.

In the blue box, place clean tin cans, rigid plastic containers, refundable beverage containers, glass bottles and jars etc…In the blue box reusable bag liner, place your smaller rigid plastics in one compartment, newspaper in another and mixed paper in a third compartment. You decide what works best for you but the recyclables have to be sorted and clean.
