The principals of Electrum initially designed, constructed and installed a 'state of the art' pollution abatement control system to recycle solder dross. With the evolvement of EPA regulations and generator superfund risk, it was imperative Electrum be in the forefront of environmentally safe solder dross recycling. Also during this period of time, the Electrum principals installed a chemical process to recycle the precious metal material shipped for recycling.

As we move forward, Electrum is acutely focused on the solder and precious metal recycling marketplace. The traditional solder alloys are being replaced with lead free, and precious metal usage will change with new and more diverse applications. As these market changes occur, Electrum's extensive technical knowledge and experience will be vital to service new recycling requirements. For eco-friendly precious metal recycling, tin metal recycling, lead free recycling, Electrum is the best choice. With our extensive recycling experience, superior service, and attention to detail, our clients find working with Electrum simple, cost effective and reliable.

Since establishment in 1976, Electrum, Inc. continues to be managed by the original founders Jack Douglas and John Silva. The founders possess over 70 years of combined experience in solder and precious metal recycling, environmental compliance, and generator service requirements. Initially, Electrum operated as a broker recycling solder and precious metals generated by electronic and electrical manufacturers.

After several years of successful operation as a recycling broker, the principals designed, constructed and installed a 'state of the art' pollution abatement control system to recycle solder dross. With the evolvement of EPA regulations and generator superfund risk it was imperative Electrum be in the forefront of environmentally safe solder dross recycling. Electrum has been active in the business of recycling solder, precious metals and base metals for more than 35 years, in particular material generated by the electronic manufacturing industry.

Our years of experience in electronics have contributed to our understanding of the different manufacturing operations and the specific items generated for recycling. In addition to our core recycling business, solder and precious metals, we also process many lower value recyclables. Our willingness to receive and recycle these marginally profitable items is a response to customer requests for a total recycling package, namely:

  1. An Environmentally Safe Program
  2. A Comprehensive Recycling Package
  3. Prompt, personal and efficient customer service

The benefit is a recycling program with one vendor, which is cost effective and provides tremendous value for the generator.

PRECIOUS METAL RECYCLING

Our New Jersey DEP permitted stripping operation provides Electrum with the capability to chemically remove precious metal from plated surfaces. This process was tested for fugitive emissions and certified to be within DEP specifications.

Over 35 years of experience in the precious metal recycling business have enabled our management to gain invaluable knowledge on how to utilize the most efficient processing method for different precious metal materials. We process material requiring pulverization, ball milling, melting and incineration. We are experienced in environmental compliance and its relationship to recycling complex types of precious metal bearing material in an environmentally safe manner.
