In 2017, Keaton Turner founded Turner Mining Group, because he had a vision for the future of the contract mining industry. As someone who grew up in the mining world, Keaton knew that a more people-focused, nationwide contractor could revolutionize the industry.

Instead of each individual mine outsourcing their work to separate local contractors, Turner Mining Group filled the need for a coast-to-coast, border-to-border contract mining operation. Rather than simply operating one mine at a time, Turner Mining Group is able to handle all of a client’s mines on a regional or national basis. This enables suppliers and mine owners to optimize their production across the region, by adjusting production at individual mines up or down as needs fluctuate.

We’re able to keep our prices competitive to a local contractor while offering wide-ranging services, because Turner Mining Group’s operations are streamlined to be efficient, delivering a higher level of professionalism without sacrificing cost.

Our informal motto is “love people, move dirt,” and no four words could better summarize the way we approach our work every day. We currently have over 300 employees working across the nation, with an average team of 6-10 people at any given mine ― although teams at some of our larger sites can number 20 people or more. Unfortunately, many companies in this industry treat their people as commodities, much like they treat their equipment. This is a costly mistake that we know to avoid making.

At Turner Mining Group, we invest in our people. We believe in them, and we try to do right by them at all times. Sometimes that means acquiring lodging in better hotels for our traveling employees. It means allowing our people to democratically vote for our employee of the month. In no small part, it also means paying every one of our employees the wages they deserve.

Social media is vital for the development of Turner Mining Group. We do much of our hiring on Facebook and Instagram, whereas many companies in this space don’t even have a social media presence to utilize. We never would’ve reached this level of impact as quickly as we have without leveraging social media. We don’t just post content, we connect with individuals around the country.

Above all else, Turner Mining Group believes in hustle, grit, and determination. We understand that no one’s going to hand us a contract that we didn’t earn, and we won’t attract top talent without treating our people fairly. This is why the name Turner Mining Group is frequently heard in boardrooms, offices, and job sites all across America. We’re the ones figuring out what the future of this industry looks like, and implementing those plans on a daily basis.

In less than two years, we’ve gone from forming this company to operating on a nationwide scale. Turner Mining Group operates at some of the largest mines in America ― whether it’s moving a half-million yards a month in Cupertino or Rogers City, or a quarter-million yards a month in King George or Amarillo. And we’re not stopping now. In fact, we’re still just getting started.
