Eliot Iron Works Inc. is a family-owned and operated business started by Julius Cohen and was continued by his son Robbie. Eliot Iron Works' goal is to utilize the element of steel to assure safety and security for our clients.

THE STORY OF ELIOT IRON

As a shipbuilder during WWII, Julie Cohen mastered every aspect of steel work and recognized the impact steel could have in skilled hands and its power to make the world a safer place. After the war, Julie partnered with another shipbuilder to start RI-CO Iron Works.

Julie and his employees were a team. Their goal was to assure the safety of others. Success depended on the strength of the materials and on the men who wielded it.

Julie’s son, Robbie, followed in his footsteps. As a boy, Tinker Toys and Lincoln Logs became fire escapes and window grates, As a man, Robbie learned from Julie, Frank, and their team, to master every facet of steel work. In 1992, Robbie changed the name of the family business to Eliot Iron Works, in honor of his son, Eliot.

We support A.I.D.S. research

In 1999, Robbie and Laurie’s son Eliot died at 16 from AIDS-related complications. When Eliot learned of his illness as a boy, he made it his mission to make a difference in the lives of others. He dedicated himself to educating others, speaking at schools and with news media all across the Commonwealth. He appeared in national publications and television shows, talking about living with AIDS. Eliot’s openness helped remove the stigma that so many before him had suffered and his bravery inspired thousands of people.
