Rapid Steel Supply Corp.

Rapid Steel was founded in 1980 in New Hyde Park, NY by Annette and Philip Weinstein. Starting from scratch, they developed a thriving business first located on Jericho Turnpike and then on Denton Avenue.

In 1993, their son Roy Weinstein joined the business. Roy is graduate of the University of Texas and The Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds a master's degree in civil engineering. Roy's experience and knowledge of engineering and materials contributed to our growth and subsequent move to Long Island City in 2004.

The decision to relocate proved to be a significant moment in our company's history. We moved into facilities formerly occupied by the Thypin Steel Company, which was once one of the largest steel companies in the region. The 20,000 square foot plant allowed us to increase our warehouse and services departments by 50%, and the central location enabled us to offer free delivery to customers on all orders — no exceptions.

Today, Rapid Steel is led by President and General Manager Roy Weinstein and Vice President Kris Rutkowsky. Our staff has grown considerably since 1980, but Roy and Kris still enjoy working directly with customers each day.
