Vulcan Steel was started as, and still is a family venture that has been fueled by a passion for the steel industry. Started in 1963 by Herman Hopper who named the company after the symbol of his home town Birmingham Alabama. 'Vulcan' represents the Roman god of metallurgy. Vulcan Steel today is run by his son the president of the Company Davis H. Hopper along with his sons Davis N. Hopper and Ben Hopper which represents 4 generations in the structural steel business.
