Albert E. Egger founded Egger Steel Company in 1946 with partner George M. Scudder and three employees to service the local market for structural and reinforcing steel in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. During the development of the Interstate Highway System in the 1950s, Egger Steel began fabricating steel bridge girders in addition to structural work. Over the years, the company has grown to over 100 employees and currently supplies fabricated structural steel, reinforcing bars and miscellaneous metal for complex bridge and building projects throughout the Midwest and Rocky Mountain regions.

Egger Steel has been an innovator since the beginnthg. In 1955, Egger Steel joined with Nelson Stud Welding and the South Dakota Department of Transportation to design and fabricate a composite steel bridge utilizing welded stud shear connections. This design soon became the worldwide industry standard.

The history of Egger Steel is reflected in the thousands of projects we have completed during the last .x decades. From hospitals to ethanol plants, simple pedestrian spans to complex fully assembled railroad bridges, Egger Steel has mastered steel fabrication to all its complexities.
