B & L Sheetmetal

In 1968, J C. Lee, with the help of his father-in-law George Bower, purchased a small sheet metal and roofing company at 922 S. Morton in Bloomington, Indiana. Since then, B&L Sheet Metal and Roofing, Inc. has been a leader in providing top-quality single-ply roof systems, standing seam metal roof systems and metal wall systems in the Bloomington and Southern Indiana markets.

B&L was one of the first Indiana roofering companies to enter the EPDM market and has installed single ply rubber (EPDM) roof systems for over 25 years. B&L is an approved installer for both Carlisle Syntec Systems and Firestone Building Products, the two major single ply rubber manufactureres in the U.S. In July 1994, B&L became a Carlisle 'Hall of Fame' member. This honor is given only to Carlisle roofing companies which have achieved the level of 250 'Perfect 10' roof inspections. B&L is a Carlisle ESP (Excellence in Single Ply) roofer, a Firestone 'Partners in Quality' roofer and has also been designated as a Firestone 'Master Contractor.'

In May 2000, B&L moved from its original 6,000 square foot building on S. Morton Street to a totally remodelled 16,000 square foot building at 1301 N. Monroe Street. This new facility provided much needed room to expand B&L's office, metal shop and materials storage areas. Several new pieces of shop equipment were added as a result of this move and expansion, giving B&L one of the largest and best equipped metal fabrication shops in the state of Indiana. This has allowed B&L to precision manufacture all of its own roof-related sheet metal items such as copings, gravel stops, flashings, gutters and downspouts for all its roofing projects. Thus, B&L can control the quality, as well as timely delivery, of these items to our jobsites.

In the metal market, B&L is a major metal roof installer and has relationships with several major metal roof and wall manufacturers including Berridge, Rollcom, Morin, Fabral, Imetco, Copper Sales, MBCI and Metal Sales. B&L has also installed composite wall panels and column covers on several projects, including Bloomington High School South, Bloomington Hospital, Pike County Schools and Edgewood Elementary Schools.
