The Electric Materials Company (TEMCO) was established in 1915 by the late Orris C. Hirtzel and is located in North East, Pennsylvania midway between Cleveland, OH and Buffalo, NY and 140 miles north of Pittsburgh, PA along Lake Erie. The company produces high quality electrical commutators, AC rotors, copper extrusions, forgings and castings. Products are sold around the world and service the electrical power, mining, transportation, military and architectural markets.

In 1997, TEMCO was purchased by United Stars Inc. of Beloit, WI.  From its inception to today, the owners have firmly believed in satisfying the customer with exceptional service and product.

The original buildings occupied 15,000 square feet on Washington Street in North East, Pennsylvania. Original product lines included street railway repair parts, drop forgings, etc. Since then the company has expanded both its product lines and plant facilities. Today the plant covers approximately 420,000 square feet and employs over 300 people working three shifts.

Since its beginning, the Company has grown into an integrated and complex manufacturer of copper base components for the electrical industry. Dependable service to our customers is a primary concern in today’s highly competitive, demanding markets. New product lines are being investigated and the export of our products to overseas markets is being pursued.
