Cleansing Service Group is a leading and award winning force within the waste management sector. As waste solution specialists, CSG offers a complete variety of services ranging from collection to the final disposal of countless waste streams.

The Company is steeped in heritage and has grown to become the second largest privately owned waste management company in the UK. The success of the organisation is demonstrated by its recent rating as the 60th most profitable company in the Sunday Times Profit-Track 100 table for the UK’s 100 private firms with the fastest growing profits. Also, the Chartered Institute of Wastes Management has put CSG at 29th in its Fast 50 growth league table of the industry's top 50 fast movers, as well as listing the company in its Top 20 largest waste companies by UK sales.

The Groups' head office is based near Fareham, Hampshire and operates from 19 sites stretching from Cornwall to Kent and up to Manchester and Middlesbrough in the north with drivers and operatives working throughout the UK.

CSG is strongly motivated by the goal of diverting waste from landfill, and recovering and recycling as much waste as possible from the initial parts of the original waste stream.

The Group attracts customers from many sectors including Government Agencies such as the Ministry of Defence and the Vehicle and Operator Services Agency (VOSA), major local authorities throughout the UK, utility companies such as UK Power Networks, leading supermarket groups including Tesco, Sainsbury and Morrisons, and multi-national forecourt chains, including Esso.

While the Company has forged a national reputation for excellence in industrial and commercial waste management, it has also continued to strengthen its position as market leader in the domestic householder sector and empties, services and repairs thousands of off-mains domestic waste systems every year.

History
In 1934 Edgar Hart bought a second-hand Dennis tanker for £5 from Wokingham Rural Council and Hampshire Cleansing Services was born. An ambitious and enterprising individual, Edgar had the know-how to foster and grow the enterprise over a number of decades.

By the end of the war the firm had grown rapidly with over 100 people working for the firm and had expanded into new service offerings including gully-emptying for local authorities.

In 1954 the firm become a limited company and changed its name to Cleansing Service (Southern Counties) Ltd which better reflected the geographical areas of operation.

The number of operational depots steadily grew thanks to good management and strong customer demand.

During the late sixties the Company were pioneers in the South with the Front End Loader – a tool now common place within the waste industry.

The Group continues to actively embrace new technologies and equipment and endeavours to innovate and develop new solutions to the problems facing the waste industry. The development of Company owned Treatment Plants provided a greater degree of autonomy and waste solutions.

In the Eighties the Company name was changed to Cleansing Service Group Ltd to better characterise the wide range of activities and regions within which the business operates.

With a long tradition of expansion and organic growth CSG acquired J&G Environmental in 2008 helping to increase its presence in the printing photographic and healthcare industries, it also acquired Mitchell Parker White in 2009 to develop the sewage treatment plant servicing and maintenance and acquired the assets of Wilton Waste Treatment in 2010 to expand geographically into the North East.

The Group continues to thrive, whilst maintaining the intrinsic values of ethical and environmental compliance, customer service and innovation which are dearly held within the corporate culture.
