While waste disposal and recycling weren’t the initial services offered when Charles George started our family trucking and transport business in 1959, providing customer convenience and improving efficiencies were. And as the New England region evolved and grew over the years, so did the business.

It was our family’s second generation leader, Karen George, who continued to build and expand the business by focusing on trash removal. Continuing with the family mission of providing convenience and streamlining efficiencies, under Karen’s guidance, the company developed an on-time delivery and pick-up trash service that really solidified our reputation as a provider of superior customer service.

Karen’s strong leadership and bold venture into additional waste management services led to the Charles George company proudly receiving certification as a State Office of Minority and Women-Owned Business Assistance (SOMWBA).

Charles George Companies Inc., now in our third generation as a family-run company, is headed up by President, Christopher Karras, who directs the company and manages day-to-day operations while working closely with a Board of Directors.

Christopher’s vision has expanded the company’s focus to not only include transport and trash removal but also a variety of waste management, sorting, and recycling services for all of New England.

We have taken all of the necessary steps to become certified as a LEED management business, assisting building owners to responsibly manage and sustain the waste associated with institutions and large buildings. In addition to our waste collection services, we manage and operate the AKS Recycling, Inc. transfer station in Fitchburg, MA, which is open to commercial businesses and residents of approved municipalities. This unique pairing of our waste collection, transfer station, and recycling processing makes us one of the few independent waste disposal firms that not only collects trash and recycling but also separates and recycles it ourselves. We handle the process from start to finish while meeting all State and Federal requirements and that is something you can feel good about!

30,000 sq. foot Material Recovery Facility (MRF) opened in November 2014. Handling 5,000 tons per month specializing in commercial single-stream shipping finished product domestically and internationally. They are located at 7 Republic.
