How It All Began

Our founder Bob Platt began hauling trash in 1979 when someone needed help getting rid of their refuse, using his Volvo station wagon with the inside lined in plastic he picked up his first customer.

In 1981 he bought his first truck and began servicing customers in the Kailua-Kona, Holualoa, Kealakekua and Keauhou areas under the name PFI Rubbish Service Inc. In December 1991 , rubbish service was then expanded to include Waimea and Waikoloa.

Today PFI Rubbish Service, has a fleet of twelve garbage trucks and eleven employees. With a customer base of over 4,000 customers, PFI's distinctive blue trucks can be seen from Kohala Ranch to Middle Keei Road five days a week, including holidays!

PFI Rubbish provides curbside residential service to the West side of the Big Island of Hawaii.

Our blue garbage trucks are out five days a week, working all holidays - including Thanksgiving and Christmas Day!

We provide weekly service to Kailua-Kona, Holualoa, Kainaliu, Honalo, Keauhou, Mauna Lani, Mauna Kea, Kohala Coast, Puu Lani Ranch, Waikoloa, Waimea, Kealakekua and Captain Cook.
