OUR HISTORY

1993
Managing Director Mark Davies became involved in plant hire as a ground worker, subcontracting himself out on a one man and his machine basis.

1995
Experiencing rapid growth Derwen Plant was registered as a Ltd company, and towards the end of the decade to reflect the company’s activities traded as Derwen Construction. Initially focusing on civil engineering projects in line with market demand they progressed onto design and build projects.

2003
Derwen moved from Lonlas Cellars in Skewen to the current site in Neath Abbey Wharf expanding both its footprint and workforce. Derwen were by now established as a multi disciplined construction company winning industry awards for training and development.

2007
To furnish its own project requirements Derwen became involved in dry crushing and screening in recognising the limitations of these processes the opportunity to improve the quality and quantity of recycled aggregates was explored. Derwen’s aggregate recycling plant was commissioned the first in Wales and the groundbreaking plant immediately gained industry recognition for innovation.

2009
During the economic downturn, the management team reacted quickly to environmental changes and identified an opportunity to streamline their operations.

A strategic decision was made to focus solely on the recycling of inert waste into high quality recycling aggregates.

2013
Derwen invested significant resources in designing and commissioning a leading-edge recycling and recovery facility, processing mixed Commercial, Industrial and Construction waste. The operation encompasses sophisticated technologies, specifically designed to maximise the quality of the end commodity.
